Many thanks to our runners, walkers, volunteers, supporters and sponsors who helped us break all prior records. With your help we raised over $500,000 for hunger relief in metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

- Georgia’s unemployment rate increased significantly from 6.2% to 10.3% between July of 2008 and 2007. (Georgia Dept. of Labor, Workforce Information & Analysis. 2009)
- 20.1 percent of Georgia’s children live in poverty – that’s nearly half a million children under age 18. (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey Profile. 2007 and 2008)
- Nearly 1.4 million Georgians (14.7%) are living in poverty. This is the equivalent of 26 sold out games at Turner Field. (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey Profile. 2007 and 2008)
- The percentage of Georgia households receiving food stamps jumped from 7.9% in 2007 to 9.2% in 2008 – 320,926 households. (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey Profile. 2007 and 2008)
- 11.9 percent - more than one in every ten senior citizens in Georgia - is living in poverty. (U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey Profile. 2007 and 2008)
- 12.6% of Georgia households experience low food security. Food Security is defined as access to enough food for an active, healthy life. (USDA. 2007)
- When the Federal minimum wage rate went from $6.55 to $7.25/hour in July of 2009, Georgia once again did not increase its minimum wage rate. (It remains at $5.15/hour.) Georgia is currently one of only five states with minimum wage rates lower than the Federal minimum wage rate. (U.S. Dept. of Labor, Employment Standards Admin. 2009)
